Toronto – Shane Bieber hopes to become a popular pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays, but in his new home he finds himself to become the second most famous Bieber after Canadian pop icon Justin Bieber.
The Blue Jays Bieber was once wearing a jersey on the 2019 player weekend with “Justin, not Justin.” This led Canadian Beaver to wear a “non-Shane Beaver” shirt a few weeks later.
“Well, I think I'm probably the second most famous beaver in most cities,” said Righty, 30, who arrived in Toronto on Friday, and met his new teammate, coach and support staff, manager John Schneider.
The Blue Jays acquired Beaver from the Cleveland Guardians before Thursday's trade deadline in exchange for right-handed pitching prospect Cal Stephen.
The Beaver drove 4 1/2 hours from Cleveland and passed through the Ringer by border customs officials.

“They shook me,” Bieber said with a smile. “It wasn't too crazy. Once we got there, we got out of the car and explained the situation. I got my paper and made my own path.”

Last Tuesday, he began his fourth rehabilitation. This time he gave up three hits including Homer on a 59-pitch outing in the fourth inning with a double-A-A-Akron.
He is scheduled to pitch on Sunday for Triple A Buffalo and is hoping to go on five innings and 70-75 pitches. After his next outing, he and the Blue Jays decide:
“The medical staff in Cleveland have adopted a mentality (one game at a time) and I think these guys have the same. “Like I said, I feel good.”
Bieber threw a light bullpen session for Toronto pitching coach Pete Walker before Friday's series opener with the Kansas City Royals.
“I'm most pleased that I don't think about my health. It tells a lot about where my body is, where my arms are, how far I've come after surgery,” Bieber said. “I'm focused on launching to get into a big league, and it's a fun place. That's what I missed.”

He brings several seasons of experience to the American League's East Leading Blue Jays after the season. The winner of the 2020 CY Young Award pitched twice in the playoffs again in 2022 in his Cy Young season.
“My initial response was that I was excited,” he said he was trading with the Blue Jays. “I wasn't entirely expecting that, but I wasn't shocked.”
It is not yet known how to install Bieber in the starting rotation when Blue Jays is ready. However, if Schneider and Walker decide to soften the Beaver and give the veteran staff some rest, the rookie is open to a six-pitcher rotation.
