People using the UK's popular weight loss pill Murujaro are planning to pay higher prices as drug giant Eli Lily said it would raise prices in the UK by up to 170%.
This is because US President Donald Trump is trying to get drugmakers to raise prices in Europe to allow price cuts in the US.
But Canadians are not going to see prices rise, a Canadian spokesman told Global News.

“There are no pricing updates to share Canadian patients, as last week's announcement was unique to the UK and not Canada,” the spokesperson told Global News in an emailed statement.
The new UK price, which also applies to Lily's type 2 diabetes medication of the same name, will be effective from September. The company says the price of the highest monthly dose will rise from 122 pounds to 330 pounds (C$227.98 to $616.67).

The move reflects how the pharmaceutical industry is navigating US policy changes. This is the most lucrative market where Trump is driving lower domestic prices and encouraging price increases overseas.
Last week, Eli Lily CEO David Licks told investors calls that parity between us and European drug pricing would be desirable in the long run, but he warned that the European government has not “signed up to pay for drugs.”
