Mingus Reeds, the son of Walking Dead actor Norman Reeds and former supermodel Helena Christensen, made their first appearance in court on Tuesday after being arrested on August 23 and charged with assault.
Police arrested Reedus while responding to an ongoing assault, according to the New York City Police Department.
According to USA Today, the officers discovered a 33-year-old woman with “minor injuries” on the neck and legs and were taken to hospital in “stable.”
Reedus, 25, was initially charged with one count of assault and one count of breathing. He was later charged with three additional counts: assault – causing reckless physical injuries, aggravated harassment and harassment. He pleaded not guilty and an investigation into the case is underway.
During his appearance in his virtual court, Reeds spoke with Justice Michelle Weber about the conditions for extending the temporary protection order issued in his arrest.
According to the New York Daily News, Reedus is restricted from contacting women accused of assault and is expected to appear in court again on Wednesday, October 8th.
The judge told Reedus that if he saw a woman in the apartment building where both of them lived, he would have to leave immediately.
His lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, attended during a court session on Tuesday, telling people that Reedus' “innocence will be revealed.”
“In spite of what the prosecutors said in court, that's not evidence – they (the Manhattan District Attorney's Office) chose to claim Mingus on a misdemeanor's charge.
“Equally important, the judge released Mingus on his own perception, both bail and supervising. That important judicial decision amplifies the volume. Mingus was presumed to be innocent and pleaded not guilty.”

Reedus spoke with the New York Daily News after the incident, claiming that a woman and her friends had chased him and his friends while at the San Gennaro Festival in New York City. He claimed that when the woman chased him and “threw away her arm” to protect her, he accidentally attacked the woman.
“It was an instinct,” he said. “I was reacting to them crowding me and I was scared of my group.
“We didn't think about it anything, but these five girls chase us two blocks and yell at us by throwing food. “It was very clear that these girls were affected and were looking for a fight.”
He also claimed that the woman “flocked” him, “one pulled my hair from behind and the other was throwing water into my face.”

His lawyer, Isabel Kirschner, told the outlet the charges “will meet with unfounded and strict defense.” He was the victim of this incident.”
Kirshner negotiated with the district attorney to downgrade the charges of Reedus' disorderly conduct, which led to a plea bargain.
He was declared conditional discharge and had to attend five private counseling sessions.
