Howard Stern shocked listeners on Monday morning when Andy Cohen took over the time slot and claimed the channel was called “Andy 100.”
The stunt came after weeks of promotion that promised a big reveal following swirling speculation that Stern's show would be cancelled. “The tabloids spoke. Howard Stern was fired and cancelled,” one promotional video said. “Is that really goodbye Booy?”
“I know you're hoping for a big announcement from Howard, but this isn't how things are going to go,” Cohen, 57, aired Monday morning. “There was a lot of talk about what will happen in Howard's deal: Is he fired?
“Howard was supposed to start the show today. It was like a cleaner handoff. Nothing is pretty about it. I'm here. I'm making it a wing,” Cohen continued. “We can't exaggerate what Howard meant to this company, and what he did for Sirius. He walked so we could run.
The executive producer of Real Housewives was sure Stern would soon take a position on another platform before he thanked him for joining the air with him and going with the pranks.
Stern, 71, took over and confirmed that he would continue to handle siriusxm after rumors began that he had not been updated.

“I was just getting that much F. I got mad at how people were writing me and asked if it was okay because I was fired,” Stern began.
“I care about my business and enjoy my summer vacation. (Reporter) I say I was fired because I woke up too much. In light of Stephen Colbert's firing, Stephen's words were part of this merger, and he fired him because he woke up. “What makes me mad is that I can't leave now. I was thinking about retirement. I can't do it now.”
“Everything you read in your paper about me and Robin (Quivers) is completely wrong,” Stern added.
After confirming he returned to the show on Monday, Stern suggested that “one of the positive things” about the situation was to hear other companies' interest in the Howard Stern Show.
“I'm very pleased with Sirius,” Stern said before praising Sirius CEO Jennifer Witz.
Witz had previously issued her own statement about Stern. “I think he was at the heart of our platform for over 20 years.
Speculation has grown after Stern postponed from last week's summer break. His show told listeners that he would address the topic of his SiriusXM trading when he returned on September 2, but he postponed the show's return until September 8th.
Stern did not share if they signed a new agreement with SiriusXM because the current transaction expired at the end of 2025.
“There's the truth here. SiriusXM and my team have been talking about how we will move forward in the future. They've come close to me. They're sitting with me like normal.
Stern joined in 2006 what was then Sirius Satellite Radio Inc.
Stern extended twice before its contract with SiriusXM, and in 2010 it again extended in 2020 with a five-year, US$500 million deal, Forbes reported.
“He's been with me for 20 years, so he's pretty happy, but like many great artists, he can stop whenever he wants,” SiriusXM president and chief content officer Scott Greenstein told a Hollywood reporter in 2024.
