The longest active losing streak in the NFL ended on Sunday.
All it took was to score one of the wildest and unlikely touchdowns of the season.
The Tennessee Titans, who cornered 21-3 in week five on the road with the Arizona Cardinals, were pulled within 21-12 with fewer than five minutes left by No. 1 Cam Ward in last spring's NFL Draft, unleashing a pass towards the end zone.
Ward's pass was tilted and intercepted by Arizona's Dadrion Taylor DeMerson on the 6-yard line. From that moment on, play went from an outspoken departure that could have sealed off the necessary victory for an error comedy that leaned the game towards Tennessee.
Taylor DeMerson groped while he tried to stabilize himself after the pick while he fell to the ground. Teammate Kei'trel Clark ran to recover the loose ball, but accidentally kicked him back to the 3, registering two other Cardinals defenders further into the end zone. Tennessee's Tyler Rockett jumped into the ball for a spectacular touchdown that brought the Titans within 21-19.
The Titans won 22-21 and scored a field goal on the final play of the regulations, completing a memorable comeback for every team. The Titans have the lowest average winning odds of winning teams since 2016, according to the NFL – but it's particularly unlikely given that they were.
Tennessee ignored week 5 to distinguish. Last season's 10-game winning streak was the longest active, unwinning streak in the league. If they lost again and expanded to 11, they would have coinced with the franchise's longest losing streak since 1994.
Tennessee left the game with Catharsis. Meanwhile, Arizona left a familiar horror. All five Cardinals games this season were determined in final ownership, including three consecutive losses.
