Ace Frehley, the original lead guitarist and founding member of the glam rock band KISS, who dazzled audiences with his elaborate makeup and smoke-filled guitar, died Thursday. He was 74 years old.
Deputies said Fraley had recently suffered a fall and died peacefully surrounded by his family in Morristown.

In a statement, his family said they were “absolutely devastated and heartbroken” but would cherish his laughter and celebrate the kindness he showed to others.
Kiss, whose hits include “Rock 'n' Roll All Night” and “Detroit Rock City,” was known for its intense stage show, which included fireworks, smoke, and spurts of fake blood, with band members wearing black-and-white painted faces, platform boots, and black wigs.

Frehley and his bandmates were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014.
