Canadian musician Matthew Goode has announced that he will cancel his US tour dates in protest of President Donald Trump's government and its ongoing tariff policies.
Good, 54, announced on Facebook on Saturday, telling his US fans that he “conscientiously cannot run my date in your country.”
“This isn't fair to you. I know it very well, but the truth is, every week I have a deep temperament to what's happening politically,” the four Junho winner wrote.
“My world has always been focused on political awareness. I want to be clear about this because I know that not all of you are on the same side,” he continued. “That's my opinion and I'm willing to risk my future career and stand up to what we are today and what God pleases.”
Load Me Up Rocker pointed out Canada's decision to cancel digital services tax on Canadian revenues from companies such as Amazon, Google and Meta. Last month, Prime Minister Mark Carney announced that Canada will cancel its planned tax as a condition for resuming trade talks with the United States.

“It was recently announced that after a year of imposed Digital Services Tax, we (Canada) have been retreating from there to appease Trump's government,” Goode wrote. “This is about $2 billion in revenue, it's accumulated, and we're walking away from it,” Goode wrote.

“Additionally, I fear that there will be a significant increase in visa costs, and that even after a visa, if there is something negative about the current GOP, I will be denied entry.
He kept saying he would lose a week's worth of work, but “It's a great cost for me personally to give up 30% of my revenue in withholding tax, walk eggshells at the border and actively participate in the silence of opinions.”
“This was just thousands of tickets, so I realized that it had an overall impact of around .00,001%, but we're constantly leaving our incredible country walking away from billions of people with the necessary income, leaving us constantly unsatisfied whether we actually have partners or enemies in the South and whether we're tragic and support people who are completely obsessed with the culture of art.”
Good also said, “I'm gonna invite other artists to join me,” but he knows it's “unfair.”
Good was scheduled to perform in Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Buffalo in the next few days. He still encourages his fans to show support for the Texas King band.
The Hello Bomb singer also appeared on Instagram after Trump first commented early in the new year that he hopes to join the US as the 51st state in Canada.

“I never thought anything of this nasty meaning would happen in my life,” he began. “The Prime Minister resigned yesterday. Today, the US president-elect has clearly acknowledged at a press conference that one of his goals is to annex Canada using what can only be called an economic war.”
Good said his family fought “for the freedom and sovereignty of this country in Canada” in World War II.
“I have traveled more from coast to coast than ever before, and despite these small sectors, most of us cannot hesitate to cherish this land, despite attempts to promote,” he writes. “From Haida Gwai to Halifax, we are Canadians who have the ability to share ourselves with others, and we do.”
“In all of this, there will be a time when we will stand up and refuse to abandon the meaning of being a country and being Canadian.
