Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin space company is finally ready to attempt a second launch of its New Glenn super-heavy-lift rocket. The company announced Wednesday that it will attempt a launch as early as Sunday, Nov. 9, from Launch Complex 36 in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
New Glenn's first flight took place in January and was largely successful. The rocket's second stage entered orbit, but the first stage exploded on its return to Earth before Blue Origin could land it on a drone ship in the ocean.
Earlier this year, the company announced it would try to launch a second New Glenn in “late spring.” However, that timeline shifted several times. Blue Origin is being especially cautious about its second launch, as this time it will be delivering cargo on behalf of paying customers. The main cargo is NASA's twin-engine spacecraft ESCAPADE, bound for Mars. Viasat technology demonstrators will also be in attendance.
