Stockholm — Police said a drone flew over the Russian trade delegation's villa on an island outside Stockholm early Saturday morning, dumping paint and an unknown sticky substance on the building before flying off.
Stockholm regional police spokeswoman Ola Osterling said no one was injured and the villa was not evacuated.
Osterling said staff from the trade mission spotted the drone and saw it drop containers containing paint and unidentified substances at around 5:30 a.m. local time. They then informed Stockholm Regional Police.
Osterling said investigators took samples of the substance for analysis and filed charges of vandalism and harassment. Police officers did not see the drone, but they interviewed a staff member who did. It was not clear who was behind the incident.
According to Osterling, Lidinge Island is home to foreign embassies and their satellite offices, as well as holiday homes for trade delegations and other residences.
