The Florida Department of Health said Monday there are 21 cases of Campylobacter and E. coli infections related to drinking state raw milk, including six children under the age of 10.
The state health department has reported seven hospitalizations related to consumption of raw milk containing disease-causing bacteria from certain farms in Northeast/Central Florida.

“The sanitation practices on this farm are particularly concerning due to the number of cases,” the Health Department said.
Shiga toxin-producing E. coli and Campylobacter infections can cause diarrhea, vomiting, and stomach cramps. In severe cases, it can cause kidney failure, but this is particularly concerning for children, the Health Department said.

In Florida, raw milk is sold only for non-human consumption as a pet or animal food, limiting hygiene regulations efforts. The container should be clearly labelled as raw milk only for animal consumption.
Federal health officials have warned against raw milk consumption due to the outbreak of avian flu in the United States.
Kennedy, the US Secretary of Health, was a supporter of raw milk.
