A documentary about the late Canadian comic John Candy opens the 50th edition of the Toronto International Film Festival.
According to the festival, John Candy says: I trace the personal and professional life of a comedy star through home videos I have never seen before and candid memories revealing my son, husband, father and friends who fought personal ghosts and Hollywood pressures.
The film was directed by Colin Hanks and produced by Ryan Reynolds. Ryan Reynolds says in a joint statement that SCTV is a great actor and even better person.
John Candy is portrayed in the scene in the comedy Uncle Back.

Candy appeared in some of the biggest comedies of the 80s and 90s. This includes Uncle Buck, planes, trains, cars, cool running and splash.
Candy was only 43 years old when he died of a heart attack in Mexico in 1994.
