Kim Kardashian Robbery Trial: 8 out of 10 Defendants Found Guilty – National

The eight defendants were convicted of a crime related to the robbery of reality television star Kim Kardashian in 2016.

Two of the 10 defendants were acquitted of planning and carrying out armed robbery during Paris Fashion Week nine years ago, according to NBC News.

A court in the French capital has decided on a verdict at the trial of a “grandpa robbery” accused of stealing millions of dollars of Kardashian jewels.

The robbery was considered the biggest robbery that Paris had seen for decades to target individuals. The proceedings in France are held by six citizen ju-speakers and together with three magistrates, are reserved for the most serious crimes.

A panel of three judges and six ju members required a majority vote of seven to reach a decision. Kardashian was not present on Friday due to the verdict.

The nine men and women were accused of carrying and supporting crimes when a robber dressed police surged into the charming Hôtel de Pourtalès, bound Kardashians with zip ties and fled with jewels worth $6 million.

After filing a final statement in court, the defendant was rejected Friday morning and the verdict was finally held by the afternoon.

Autaïtkhedache, a suspect in charge, was sentenced to eight years in prison, of which five have been suspended.

The other three accused of the most serious charges have now been seven years, five of which have been suspended. According to the Associated Press, no one convicted will go to jail because it has already taken a long time in pretrial detention.

Kardashian issued a statement after the verdict was announced.

“In this case, I am deeply grateful to the French authorities for pursuing justice,” she said. “Crime was the most horrifying experience of my life and left a lasting impact on me and my family. I will never forget what happened, but I believe in and pray for everyone in the power of healing.

Khedache's DNA was found in the band used to bind to Kardashian, but it was an important breakthrough that helped open the case. A wiretapping caused him to issue an order, recruit an accomplice, and arrange for the sale of diamonds in Belgium. The diamond-covered cross that was dropped during the escape was the only gem that had ever recovered.

Khedache said he was just a soldier. He condemned the mystical “X” or “Ben.” Prosecutors say they never exist.

His lawyer pointed to one of the trial's most visceral moments, Kardashian's early court encounters, and pleaded for tolerance with a man accused of coordinating her ordeal.

“She saw him when she came, she listened to the letter he wrote to her, and then she forgived him,” lawyer Frank Burton told The Associated Press.

“I appreciate the letter, I will forgive you,” Kardashian told Khedache. “But it doesn't change the emotions, the trauma and the fact that my life has changed forever.”

Kardashian testified in a Paris court on May 13, telling the ju judge that he thought he would be sexually assaulted during the 2016 robbery.

“I was sure that was the moment he raped me,” she told a Paris court on Tuesday. “I thought I would definitely die.”

When Kardashian, who was in tears from time to time, heard the loud footsteps climbing the stairs in his hotel room, he said he was preparing his bed, and initially thought he was friends with his sister Kourtney returning from Paris Fashion Week early on October 3rd.

She recalled that the masked man screamed out before entering the room to ask who was there.

“I was clearly very confused. I had to understand what was going on. I'm just going to fall asleep.

“To be honest, there were a lot of terrorist attacks happening in the world. I thought it was a kind of terrorist attack. I didn't immediately realize that it was for my gem.”

She said she arrived at the hotel where the suspect dressed the police officers and detained the concierge hostage. According to Kardashian, he was handcuffed and dragged into her room.

One attacker began gestures with a diamond ring.

“He said, 'Ring! Ring!' and he pointed his hand,” she recalled.

Kardashian grabbed the phone and called the police, but was unaware of the number of emergency people in France. She then attempts to contact her sister and her bodyguard, but is stopped by one of the masked assailants.

The man dragged her into the toilet, she said, where they taped her mouth and told her that she wouldn't do any harm unless she caused any fuss.

She recalled that she was actively dealt with by the suspect, but they said she had not hit her.

“I wasn't hit. No, I grabbed it, dragged it into another room and thrown onto the floor, but not hit,” she told the court.

“(The gun) pointed at me to go from room to room, so it pointed towards me on the last bed.”

Her testimony marked a much-anticipated moment at trials that had captivated France and the wider world for almost a decade, rekindling debates about the price of fame and the risks of living in the public eye.

The Kardashian was joined by his mother, Kris Jenner, in a heavily guarded courtroom in Paris. According to a press release sent to journalists at trial, her team reported to the Associated Press wearing black clothing with $1.5 million worth of diamonds draped around her neck – she thanked French authorities for allowing them to “speak my truth.” ”

One suspect in the armed robbery said he regrets the “trauma” that caused the Kardashian almost nine years later.

Defendant Yunis Abbas said this was the first time he has truly realized the “trauma” that caused Kardashians as the trial began in court against 10 people charged in connection with the 2016 robbery.

“I regret that, not because I was caught, but because I had trauma,” Abbas, 72, told the ju decree.

Abbas is the first of several defendants set up to testify at trial, and has previously confessed about his role in the 2021 book, “I had lured Kim Kardashian to him.”

According to NBC News, he claimed he was not responsible for the title in the book and was not involved in tying Kardashians during the robbery.

Abbas said he acted as a watchdog on the reception area on the first floor and confirmed that the escape route was clear. He said he was unarmed and although he did not personally threaten Kardashian, he admitted that he shared responsibility for the crime.

He was arrested in January 2017 and spent 21 months in prison before being released under judicial supervision. Abbas and nine others are said to have played different roles in the robbery, known in local media as “grandpa robbers” due to their age.

According to Abbas, minutes after the attack began, his accomplice came down from the Kardashian apartment and gave him a bag of jewels.

He was running away from the scene on his bike, so he saw the police car, but the officers had not yet noticed the robbery. Abbas said that as he rode the bike, the bag containing the jewels got caught in the front wheels, fell to the ground, spilling the contents of the bag.

“I picked up the jewel and left,” he said.

The next morning, passersby spotted a diamond-covered cross in the street and handed it over to the police. This was the only jewel from a heist who had been recovered to date.

Abbas claimed he had no knowledge of Kardashian's identity at the time of the robbery.

Originally, 12 people were expected in the defendant's box. One dies, the other is seriously ill and cannot be tried. Five of the 10 defendants were present at the scene of the robbery, according to the investigation.
