Housewares company Kohler recently announced a new device called Dekoda, a $599 camera that attaches to your toilet bowl and takes pictures of what's inside.
Dekoda analyzes these images to provide up-to-date information about your gut health and hydration, and may detect blood, CNET reports. It also has a rechargeable battery, USB connectivity, and a fingerprint sensor to identify toilet users.
Dekoda is available for pre-order now, with shipping expected to begin October 21st. Customers must pay a subscription fee of $70 to $156 in addition to the hardware purchase fee.
If you're worried about the privacy implications of having a camera right under your private parts, the company says, “Dekoda's sensors only see inside the toilet and nowhere else.” Also note that the resulting data is protected by end-to-end encryption.
