The NAS pleaded not guilty to a court appearance Monday to one count of injury resisting police and executive officers, the District Attorney's Office said.
The charges are far more serious than the original report suggested, suggesting he is being investigated for a misdemeanor. If convicted, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office said the NAS could be up to five years in state prisons.

The department said it charged officers when they were arrested in the face. Police suspected of a possible overdose and took him to the hospital, where he spent several hours before being taken to prison. He remained behind the bar after his arrest.
The criminal complaint filed in court on Monday contains little details about the case, but for each of the three officers, he said he “illegally used force and violence and injured” someone “reasonably should know.”
After three days in prison, the NAS was released on USD 75,000 bail, conditionally on participation in drug treatment.
The NAS is scheduled to return to court on September 15 for the next pre-trial hearing.
