Openai has reached $10 billion in annual recurring revenue (ARR) for less than three years since launching the popular ChatGpt Chatbot.

This figure includes sales from the company's consumer products. ChatGpt business products. Application programming interfaces, or APIs. It excludes license revenue from Microsoft A massive one-off deal, according to an Openai spokesperson.

For everything last year, Openai was around $5.5 billion. A significant amount of cash is required to reach meteor growth rates. The San Francisco-based startup lost about $5 billion last year.

Also, by 2029 Openai aims to earn $125 billion, according to anyone familiar with the issue they asked not to name because the details are confidential. Information first reported on Openai's revenue ambitions.

The new revenue metrics provide some context for the valuation of Openai monsters. Openai closed its $40 billion funding deadline in March, marking the largest private technology deal on record. Today's metrics value Openai at around 30 times its revenue, highlighting the growth expectations of some of the biggest investors. Openai is supported by Japan's Softbank, Microsoft, Coatue, Altimeter, Thrive, and more.

Openai entered the scene in late 2022 with the release of the consumer version of ChatGPT, and the following year began launching business products.

As of late March, Openai said it supports 500 million active users. Earlier this month, the company announced it had between 2 million and 3 million paid business users reported in February.
