Patreon, a monetization platform for creators that offers membership programs and digital products, announced on Monday it was changing its pricing structure.
Currently, Patreon gets 8% cuts or 12% cuts from creators, depending on the tier they choose, but the 8% plan is much more popular.
Instead, the new pricing plan offers one universal tier and maintains 10% of the creator's revenue.
Existing Patreon creators don't have to worry. This price increase will only affect creators who will publish a new patreon page on August 4, 2025.
“Since last updated prices six years ago, Patreon has expanded beyond payments to include media hosting, community and discovery,” the company wrote in a blog post.
Price increases are by no means a popular announcement, but Patreon has its points. We've added a number of new features over the past few years. These include native video hosting, live streaming, free membership, digital product sales and gift subscriptions.
Still, if you've ever considered setting up a Patreon account, you might want to ride it in the next few weeks and lock that 8% rate.
