Federal Health Minister Marjorie Michel is scheduled to meet with provincial and territorial officials in Calgary today, and they say they want a commitment from Ottawa to increase health funding in next month's budget.
Adriana Lagrange, Alberta's Minister of Primary and Preventive Health Services, said provinces and territories are facing increased demands on their health-care systems and the federal government needs to step up support.

LaGrange said without further support from the federal government, the health and well-being of patients and workers is at risk.
She said provincial and territorial ministers also expect a commitment from Ottawa to move away from a “one-size-fits-all” funding program.

Mr. Michel's office said he hopes to discuss pressing issues such as interstate credentialing of health care workers, mental health, addictions and vaccination programs.
Ministers are scheduled to hold a press conference this afternoon.
