Federal health officials are investigating a salmonella outbreak linked to various brands of pistachios and products containing pistachios that has sickened more than 100 people across Canada.
The Public Health Agency of Canada announced that 117 confirmed cases of salmonella have been reported in six provinces, with 67 cases occurring mostly in Quebec.

Ontario has reported 34 new cases, followed by British Columbia with nine, Alberta with four, Manitoba with two and New Brunswick with one.
Seventeen people were hospitalized, but no deaths were reported. The ages of affected people range from 2 to 95 years, and approximately 74% are women.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has announced a recall of several brands of pistachios and products containing pistachios due to potential contamination. Health officials advise the public not to consume, sell, offer, or distribute the recalled items.
The investigation is ongoing and officials say the public health notice will be updated as new information becomes available.
