British authorities filed new rape and sexual assault charges against comedian Russell Brand on Tuesday.
Britain's Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said the new charges against Brand – one count of rape and one count of sexual assault – relate to two additional women, while he has already faced similar charges relating to four women.
The CPS added that the charges arose in 2009 and were prosecuted following an investigation by the Metropolitan Police.
CPS chief prosecutor Lionel Idan said Brand had “already been charged with two counts of rape, one count of indecent assault and two counts of sexual assault relating to non-recent offenses reported between 1999 and 2005”. One was in the British seaside town of Bournemouth, and the other three were in London.
“Our prosecutors have sought to demonstrate that there is sufficient evidence to bring these additional charges to court and that it is in the public interest to pursue further criminal proceedings,” Idan continued. “The Crown Prosecution Service would like to remind everyone that criminal proceedings are ongoing and defendants have the right to a fair trial.”
Brand, 50, is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on January 20, 2026, on two additional charges.
In May, the Get Him to the Greece actor pleaded not guilty to charges of rape and sexual assault against four women dating back more than 25 years.

Actor “Oblivion” Sarah Marshall has disappeared from mainstream media in recent years, building a large following online with videos that mix health and conspiracy theories and discuss religion.
When the charges were announced in April, he said he welcomed the opportunity to prove his innocence.
“Before I lived in the light of the Lord, I was a fool,” he said in a social media video. “I was a drug addict, a sex addict, and a moron. But I was never a rapist. I have never engaged in non-consensual activity. I pray that you can see it when you look into my eyes.”
