Teddy Mellencamp, daughter of singer-songwriter John Mellencamp, shared a “exciting” update after learning that skin cancer had reached stage 4 earlier this month.
The real housewife of Beverly Hills alumni shared the news on Instagram on Tuesday, saying it was “one update I couldn't wait to share.”
“All tumor stage 4 (metastatic melanoma in my brain and lungs) has reduced or disappeared, so I have six weeks of immunotherapy and my doctor believes that if everything stays on the course it will be healed,” Mellencamp wrote. “Thank you to everyone who sent us love, prayer and positivity.”
In a video shared by Mellencamp, she said, “I just finished all the scans and the tumor has shrunk significantly. The doctor says this is all working and it means I'll feel better back to myself.”
The 43-year-old reality star said she had two more immunotherapy sessions, “Hopefully I'll be done and cancer-free.”
“Because that's how my doctor spoke to me,” she added. “He said, 'You did this. You got this.'
The Mellencamp update was later made by two Ts of the hosts of the Pod Podcast, which I shared earlier this month, saying “I'm fighting for my life.”
In an interview published on US Weekly on April 2, Mellencamp admitted that every time she went to the hospital she didn't say “Mom is always back.”
“I haven't told them that line since I came back (from the hospital),” she told the outlet. “They all know that they're fighting the hardest I can, but I don't say it because I don't want to lie to them, and I don't know.”
Mellencamp said her children, Slate, 12, Cruz, 10 and 5-year-old pigeons, are undergoing treatment to help them during difficult times.

“I'm not ready to handle this entirely,” she said. “It helps because they ask me that they wouldn't have thought they would give them the answer.”

Mellencamp said that since her diagnosis, her famous father called for her to check in every day, and that they had come close during this time.
“I didn't expect the whole family to be here in 24 hours, but by the time I was undergoing surgery, everyone was there,” she said. “My dad hates LA, so the fact that he was here for 18 days is amazing. I say a lot of that.”
On an April 9 episode of her podcast, Mellencamp shared that her father made numerous consecutive calls to her to let her know that there are detailed plans for her burial amid the ongoing battle with cancer.
“Yesterday, my dad made 11 consecutive calls. Finally, she recalled, “I'm in a bath. Let me live a little. Have fun.” “He goes, “I just want to make sure you're in the spirit ui of our group family.”
She asked her father if there was a room for Spirit us for her family.
“I said, 'I have kids, so where are you going?” he shared, “Well, there's going to be a top five, and we'll have a little area around it, and that's where everyone gets buried.” “I'm going, 'Do I need to make this commitment now?” And he says, 'Well, you're doing your will now, so maybe you'll put it there too.'
Mellencamp agreed to be buried in a spirit us in Indiana and joked that he wanted a “Hot Girls Never Die” message on his tombstone.

In February, Mellencamp revealed that she had been diagnosed with multiple brain tumors and undergoing emergency surgery.

She posted a statement on Instagram and revealed that she was diagnosed after weeks of hospitalization for “severe and debilitating headaches.”
“The pain was unbearable yesterday and I needed to be hospitalized. After a CT scan and an MRI, the doctor discovered multiple tumors in my brain.
“Two of the tumors will be surgically removed today. The remaining small tumors will be dealt with radiation at a later date,” Mellencamp continued. “I am blessed with my children, family, friends, doctors, nurses and surgeons, doing everything I can to bring me back to a better health.”
In 2022, Mellencamp revealed on social media that she had been diagnosed with melanoma, the most dangerous form of skin cancer.
“I've got a call this morning. Stage 2 melanoma. I'll go to the oncologist next Wednesday and create a game plan for the next step. Of course, all of this is pending additional testing and biopsy for other spots today.
Melanoma is a very serious form of skin cancer. According to the Melanoma Canada website, this is a cancer of melanin.
According to the World Health Organization, 85% of melanomas in Canadian men and women over the age of 30 are attributed to UV radiation exposure from artificial sources such as sun or tanning beds.
Melanoma is one of the fastest growing cancers in the world. In Canada, melanoma rates have more than tripled over the last 30 years, says Melanoma in Canada.
The website also points out that more than 1,300 Canadians die from melanoma each year, but if melanoma is detected early, survival rates are high.
