TORONTO – Canadian baseball fans shouldn't expect a repeat deal that will allow Sportsnet to air Friday night baseball broadcasts on Apple TV, featuring the Toronto Blue Jays last week.
As a result of the contract, the streamer was given the right to a Friday game between the Blue Jays and Tampa Bay Rays.
“It's exclusive to Apple,” a SportsNet spokesperson said in an email Thursday afternoon.
Sportsnet, the domestic rights holder of Canadian teams, signed contracts with Blue Jays, Apple TV and Major League Baseball ahead of last Friday's game between Toronto and Kansas City.
That matchup could have become a Blue Jays playoff clincher. The Royals hit Toronto 20-1 that night, but the Blue Jays secured a postseason berth two days later.

However, the Blue Jays' magic numbers were trimmed to 3 when Toronto defeated the Boston Red Sox 6-1 and the New York Yankees defeated the Chicago White Sox 5-3. It left Saturday as early as possible.
Instead of airing on SportsNet, Friday's Jays-Rays matchups will only be shown on Apple TV+, with non-subscribers remaining without viewing options.
There were no plans to change the arrangement, baseball sources confirmed Thursday.
Almost all Blue Jays games will air on Sportsnet, but as part of Streamer's partnership with MLB, there will be a handful of Toronto games through 162 game season air on Apple TV+.
