Instagram threads employ Linktree and other “link-in-bio” solutions by introducing ways creators can use thread profiles to share links to other interests and online presences. At launch, this feature supports up to five links to the bio. This allows visitors to connect to creators' blogs, newsletters, websites, other social profiles, and more. Additionally, creators can access new tools and see how well those links work.
Currently, meta-owned social apps with over 350 million active users per month have placed this feature as an alternative to competitor X.
However, the ability of threads to designate users to many other social and web profiles from links that are easily accessible from within the creator's bio is something that can be consumed by businesses of services such as LinkTree, Beacon, Linkin.bio, and koji. These services first came into the scene as social media apps only provide one place to add URLs to bios. Creators needed a way to guide their fans to everything else they published online, including posts on other social networks and their own websites and in-store.
With the update, threads can provide insight to creators and see how many people have visited links in their profile and links shared in posts.
The company explained that the idea is to create threads where creators can reach, even if they mean helping creators promote a presence outside of Meta's app.
Additionally, Meta says it will soon launch its weekly summary feature for insights that provide summary snapshots of the past week, including the number of posts shared, total views, number of new followers, and comparisons over a few weeks of post replies. These summaries also include other personalized tips to help creators learn how to better attract their community.
