According to President Donald Trump, the “very wealthy” group will purchase the short form video app Tiktok.
“By the way, we have a Tiktok buyer,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News Sunday morning. “I think it's probably necessary to have China's approval. I think President Xi (Jinping) will probably do that.”
Trump refused to share details about the buyers and said that in two weeks they would only reveal their identity (obviously his favorite hourly).
Trump has repeatedly delayed bills enforcing ownership deadlines, selling apps or deemed them banned in the US. In January, he said the “first idea” would “take 50% ownership with a joint venture between the current owner and/or the new owner.”
He also says he is open to allies Larry Ellison or Elon Musk buying the app, but Musk seems unlikely to be a candidate now.
